A Poem for 2018

I don’t normally write poetry, but I thought I’d give it a try here on this first post of the new year. If you haven’t noticed, I wrote it in the shape of a Christmas tree. This past Christmas we did not have one since with my book launch and being away at Christmas, we thought it best to have a miniature tree with decorations.

A new year

A brand new dawn

The light shines and brings with it

A new day, full of hope, full of joy, possibilities

A post-Christian society

How do we reach out to people

Who don’t want anything to do with Jesus

We all are desperate for Christ and poor beggars

We are living in ancient times

Christians in the Middle East are being persecuted

Scattered – while those at home are retreating to silence

Poverty – it comes in many forms, lack of food, inadequate shelter

Poor in spirit

We will always have them with us

Yet we still must serve them
